The highly-acclaimed documentary Nicky's Family was awarded the SIGNIS Special Prize at the 64th Prix Italia International Competition for Radio, Televison and Web, announced in Italy on Friday, September 21st, 2012.
SIGNIS, also known as the World Catholic Association for Communication, is a non-governmental organization that includes members from 140 countries. Each year SIGNIS awards its special prize to the programme in competition that best contributes to the promotion of human values.
Esteemed critic Leonard Maltin has selected the Mexican comedy Nora's Will to be part of "Leonard Maltin Recommends", his collection of historically significant films and modern movies that you may have missed (presented by Kaleidescape). Leonard also offers his appreciation for the rest of Menemsha's library!

Wednesday, July 18th, 2012 marks the 18th anniversary of the bombing of the Association Mutual Israelite Argentina (AMIA - the Jewish Community Center in Buenos Aires, Argentina). This act is considered one of the most tragic anti-Semitic acts since World War II, where 85 civilians perished and over 300 were injured.
Acclaimed Argentine filmmaker Marcos Carnevale has crafted a film which reckons with these horrific events. Rather than trying to explain this national tragedy by dissecting the events themselves, Carnevale sought to tell this story through the purest of souls: a young Jewish woman with Down syndrome named Anita.
